Warren Church Christmas Tree Farm
Seedling Field

OUR FARM

Warren Church Christmas Tree Farm started in 1959 when the first seedlings were planted. We have planted dozens of different species over the years and have found that only a few do well or fairly well in our setting. Monterey Pine has been our main specie over the years with Douglas Fir running right up there. (We didn't plant enough Douglas Fir a few years ago, so we are short on those.) White Fir has grown well but more slowly. The demand for Cedar has increased. We have some Spruce that grow very slowly. We are now experimenting with Italian Stone Pine.

Our Christmas Tree Farm at 470 Hidden Valley Road opens the day after Thanksgiving. It closes after the opening of our farm at 385 Hidden Valley Road which opens near the end of the Christmas tree season. One farm or the other is open during our tree season.

The 470 farm is mostly a unique forest of coastal Live Oak trees with nine scattered patches of Christmas trees. The 385 Farm, a former family popcorn farm, is one of continuous planting. On most of the western half of this farm, Glenn Church, grows exotic conifers for landscaping. exoticconifers.com

We plant seedlings every year. They grow to be mature trees for part of a joyous Christmas.

CARE FOR YOUR TREE

If over half an hour has passed since you cut your tree, then cut half an inch off the butt and place it in water. Never let your tree become dry from lack of water, because it will seal over with sap and no longer uptake water. Remember to fill your water stand every day to keep a fresh tree.
